Seoyon E-Hwa won the Grand Prize of Engineering Innovation Awards (Minister Award of Science and ICT Award) for the Private Sector at the 2021 CDE DX Awards for its 'Intelligent Fusion Inspection System Using AI Vision.'

The CDE DX Awards ceremony, hosted by CDE and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT, is an event that explores and awards success stories of digital transformation (DX) and engineering innovation in the public and private sectors, with the goal of innovating domestic industrial technology by discovering fourth industrial technology R&D activities and creating synergies through mutual exchange.

The event's host organization was founded in 1995 as the CAD/CAM Society and renamedComputational Design and Engineering (CDE) Society in 2016. It is the nation's leading multidisciplinary IT convergence society, encompassing a broad range of IT technologies such as computers, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, cyber-physical systems, and digital twins in a diverse range of fields such as machinery, automobiles, shipbuilding, industry, architecture/construction, and computer and design.

Seoyon E-Hwa won the grand prize for submitting the DX Awards with the research results from the 'Intelligent Fusion Inspection System Using AI Vision' project. The research examines the use of an artificial intelligence analysis algorithm to a vision inspection system to create an intelligent inspection system for quality inspection of plastics, which previously relied entirely on visual examination. As a system that acquires images of approximately 100 points during a single inspection process and determines them using an AI analysis algorithm that incorporates machine learning, it is not a single product, but rather an epitome of technological innovation that can be applied to a variety of car models.

To apply the reliability of AI to actual manufacturing processes, detection accuracy must exceed 99 percent. Our researchers developed an inspection system that is simple to understand and apply by creating a user-centric UI to deploy artificial intelligence algorithms that can be employed in real-world procedures. Additionally, we've supported the improvement of reliability through a process of continual learning. The researchers involved in the study showed a strong commitment to creating process innovations leveraging artificial intelligence, stating, 'We presently have about 95% confidence and will conduct ongoing research to attain our goals through continuous learning and optimization’.
