On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, Seoyon E-Hwa’s labor and management team at the Ulsan Plant participated in a seasonal kimchi-making event for seniors living alone, in collaboration with staff from the Buk-gu Volunteer Center and members of the Buk-gu Saemaul Women’s Association. This initiative has been one of Seoyon E-Hwa’s flagship social contribution activities, held annually since 2022.
This year’s kimchi, yeolmu mul-kimchi (young radish broth kimchi), was specially prepared to help seniors stay cool during the approaching summer heat. Yeolmu is known for stimulating the appetite, especially in hot weather, and is rich in potassium—making it a highly regarded summer health food. Volunteers began preparing ingredients early in the morning, carefully trimming them into bite-sized pieces suitable for elderly individuals. While the spicy onions brought tears to their eyes, everyone put in sincere and meticulous effort, imagining the seniors enjoying the refreshing kimchi.
Notably, this year’s event included the participation of newly hired interns who joined the company just last week. The interns brought a spirit of enthusiasm and positivity to the effort, smiling throughout even the toughest prep tasks and eagerly joining the kimchi-making process. Thanks to their energy and dedication, the lovingly prepared kimchi will be delivered to a total of 60 senior households in the Buk-gu district.
We hope that the seniors who live alone will enjoy this kimchi, made with care by Seoyon E-Hwa’s team, and stay healthy and energized throughout the hot summer months. Seoyon E-Hwa remains committed to sharing warmth and compassion with marginalized neighbors and will continue to fulfill its social responsibilities through ongoing community engagement.
